* Hyper Terminal + (fun) *

USING HYPER-TERMINAL [?] – http://melsabagh.blogspot.com/2010/01/zte-modem-and-vista-problem.html – (this explains a lot – pasted below)

To send AT commands to the modem, I needed to use
Hyper Terminal. For some reasons, Microsoft
decided to remove Hyper Terminal from Windows
Vista and higher. So, I dug it out from my XP
installation, tested it on Vista and, lucky me,
it is still functioning.

I started it, created a connection to the modem
on COM-8 (I got the port number from the modem
driver properties in Device Manager), and sent
the AT commands to the modem...Problem solved!
