TESTING – The ‘Upload/Insert’ > Add Video  -||||- Looks like _wp has simply placed a link to the video? (Publishing now to have a look see) – CONFIRMED! HaHa – You thought I was going embed a video here. Ill try again – (While waiting you can visit this video on youtube)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ4J69EEpu4

There might be a plugin to make this EASY ~ But I want to learn HOW it is done with the ‘default-wordpress’ interface. (There are a number of ‘Icons’ that I have NOT tried yet)

Silly-Me – I MUST use the ‘embedded-code’ (pffft) Ill try again.

Internet Explorer 6 – Displays this flash-video, BUT Internet-Explorer 8 on my laptop is NOT displaying this video. IE8 might simply need some flash update or LIKE M$ – o/s update ie8 depends on. Have to give Windows7_RC permission to update? Ok! – Its never ending this ‘IT-update‘ game.

IE8 ~ Briefly shows INCOMPATIBILITY icon – (insert-Icon-Sized-image-here) – like a broken-webpage, .. and there is a little thought-bubble sayin stuff about website incompatibility. Gotta-Love this whole ‘New-Equipment’ / Re-Installing of O/S, .. it just generates so much work it is UNBELIEVABLE!

F5 (Refresh the browser on IE8) – and it is telling me;

? This website wants to install add-on: ‘Adobe Flash Player Installer’ from ‘Adobe Systems Incorporated’. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to install it, click here… (IE; the yellow strip along the top of the IE8-Browser screen) – so Ill go get THAT browser updated ok, and make another post tomorrow.

global warming orthodoxy – is wrong

Friday, January 29th, 2010

IN – CONTEXT; 25 January 2010 ~ Monckton is about to begin an Australia lecture tour – (IF this interests you – follow the links, and listen to the audio “A passionate sceptic“)

MY-ORIGINAL-TITLE; “Some common sense – Thanks Christopher Monckton”

Christopher Monckton – The man speaks plainly about the following issues on ABC-Radio-National / SHOW: ~ Counter-Point ~ url >>>  http://www.abc.net.au/rn/counterpoint/default.htm <<<

Lord Christopher Moncton, a leading critic of the castastrophic global warming scenario.

The abc transcript on counter point / “Lord Christopher Monckton: a passionate sceptic

Play – The audio – Download the audio / “http://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/rn/podcast/2010/01/cpt_20100125_1631.mp3

SOME KEY POINTS:

  1. global warming orthodoxy – is wrong
  2. We’ve had the ‘climate-gate’ emails revealing that all of the principal players in the IPCC who have been most articulate and most forthright in pushing the notion that climate change may prove catastrophic, have been linked together in what can only be described as a small but powerful conspiracy to bend, distort, invent, manufacture, fabricate, budge, shift, tamper with, tinker with and even destroy scientific evidence for the sake of over-sexing the dossier, to use an old phrase.
  3. that now needs to be reassessed, and it’s got to be done by an independent royal commission. Don’t let the scientists do it on their own,
  4. Part two is that you really don’t want to go down the ETS route. An emissions trading scheme would be the largest tax in the history of Australia,
  5. But there it was. He sent it straight to me, and I read it and was horrified to find that at paragraph 38 of annex 1 there were two references and very clear references to the establishment of a world government.
  6. So I was horrified at this, particularly because this world government was going to be given enormous powers to regulate all markets. There’d be no such thing as free markets anymore, they were going to transfer the operation of all markets to the control of this world government.
  7. And yet in these 186 pages, the words ‘democracy’, ‘ballot’, ‘vote’, ‘election’ do not occur even once. Why? Because they were wanting to set up a dictatorial government. It’s long been the ambition of totalitarians on every side, and here they thought they were going to get away with it.
  8. So those Australians who are listening to this who happen to believe in the old fashioned concept of democracy, which I happen to love, then watch out because your governing class would still quite like to hand your powers of election over to an unelected world government if they possibly could, and you must stop them.
  9. Paul Comrie-Thomson: Since Copenhagen, a lot has happened, the BBC for one has announced that it will carry out a probe into ‘the accuracy and impartiality of its science reporting’. Does that surprise you?
  10. Christopher Monckton: It surprises me very much that they have finally admitted that there’s something wrong with the BBC’s coverage.

statcounter

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Odd behaviour coming from the ‘Statcounter’ (It has inserted TWO counter on the front page now) – while there is a counter apprearing on the individual-Permalink pages.

THIS; Has only happened recently (Since the re-installation of the blog) – and so I will persist over the coming weeks to see IF I can get it behaving MORE to my liking.

UPDATE; 9:55pm YEY! – The statcounter has gone up by one

403 forbidden

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

HTTP Error 403 Forbidden

INTRODUCTION: (Pasted below is from-URL; http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E403.html )

The Web server (running the Web site) thinks that the HTTP data stream sent by the client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) was correct, but access to the resource identified by the URL is forbidden for some reason.

This indicates a fundamental access problem, which may be difficult to resolve because the HTTP protocol allows the Web server to give this response without providing any reason at all. So the 403 error is equivalent to a blanket ‘NO’ by the Web server – with no further discussion allowed.

By far the most common reason for this error is that directory browsing is forbidden for the Web site. Most Web sites want you to navigate using the URLs in the Web pages for that site. They do not often allow you to browse the file directory structure of the site.

THE WIKIpedia URL on this topic;  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_403

GOOGLED; – 403 forbidden

Spamhaus ~ dnsbl_function.html

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

THREE – Nice simple diagrams to explain in part how a spam-filter might operate. HERE >>> http://www.spamhaus.org/whitepapers/dnsbl_function.html -

NOTE; – (Pasted below ~ THEY explain it better than I can ~ “BL” = Blocklist)

A DNSBL (commonly known as a ‘Blocklist”) is a database that is queried in realtime by Internet mail servers for the purpose of obtaining an opinion on the origin of incoming email. The role of a DNSBL such as Spamhaus’ SBL/XBL/PBL Advisory system is to provide an opinion, to anyone who asks, on whether a particular IP Address meets Spamhaus’ own policy for acceptance of inbound email.

positive self-deception

Monday, January 25th, 2010

The following is from url ~ ‘Damn_Interesting.com’ (<<< Follow this LINK to read the complete article >>>)

In 1988, psychologists Shelly Taylor and Jonathon Brown published an article making the somewhat disturbing claim that positive self-deception is a normal and beneficial part of most people’s everyday outlook. They suggested that average people hold cognitive biases in three key areas:

  • a) viewing themselves in unrealistically positive terms;
  • b) believing they have more control over their environment than they actually do; and
  • c) holding views about the future that are more positive than the evidence can justify.

The typical person, it seems, depends on these happy delusions for the self-esteem needed to function through a normal day. It’s when the fantasies start to unravel that problems arise.

Lenovo forums ~

Forum INDEX – Company = Lenovo

Found this in my email archive today – http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/ - it is not something a search engine finds.

NEED TO KNOW DETAILS:  – Type and Serial-Number http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/auweb/LenovoPortal/en_AU/config.workflow:StartWarranty

Getting a little bit ‘Off-Topic’ – (RE; Lenovo forums ~) But this is related to my R61-Vista-Biz laptop – (Which in all honesty – has been a dissappointing experience) Especially the ‘Downgrade – Disks provided by Lenovo’ which do NOT work – from memory this was about $69 – and a complete waste of money, .. and as I read more about the ‘downgrade procedure’ – it is frought with PROBLEMs, so for now – simply using  the Windows-7 RC

Can I uninstall Windows Vista?

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.
