Monday, June 7th, 2010What version of Java is installed?
Saturday, September 19th, 2009VISIT: http://www.javatester.org/version.html
Multiple copies of Java can be installed on a single computer, and, if you have more than one web browser, each one can use a different version of Java, or none at all, so be sure to test them all. Below are nine ways to determine the version of Java a web browser is using.
Note: The portion of Java that runs programs is referred to as the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) or Java Run-time Environment (JRE).
DOWNLOAD: Recommended Version 6 Update 16 – Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D, just to name a few. It’s also integral to the intranet applications and other e-business solutions that are the foundation of corporate computing.
AND; HERE is another url to TEST what version of Java is Installed; [TEST - Sytstem-X] Verifying Java Version *-THE-URL-* = http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Oops! You don’t have the recommended Java installed.
Your Java version is Version 6 Update 11 – [AND; They insist on me having verion 16]
Never mind that it has been HAPPILY working since XMAS, without any problem. GRUMBLE – GRUMBLE – Ok, gues Id better update to the latest version of Java-16
dead peasants insurance
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009THIS; is quite a popular google search; - dead peasants insurance
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? – (benefits payable to the corporation)
Corporate-owned life insurance
Corporate-owned life insurance (COLI) is life insurance on employees’ lives that is owned by the employer corporation, with benefits payable to the corporation. COLI was originally purchased on the lives of key employees and executives by a company to hedge against the financial cost of losing key employees to unexpected death, the risk of recruiting and training replacements of necessary or highly-trained personnel, or to fund corporate obligations to redeem stock upon the death of an owner. This use is commonly known as “key man” or “key person” insurance. Once, COLI was used for masses of non-key employees in order to get tax benefits, a practice known as “janitor insurance” or “dead peasant insurance”. Congress set limits on the practice in 2004, and today COLI is limited to the more senior executives of a firm.
The truth is out there
What are Permalinks?
Wednesday, August 26th, 2009THIS COULD BE USEFUL:
Permalinks are the permanent URLs to your individual weblog posts, as well as categories and other lists of weblog postings. A permalink is what another weblogger will use to link to your article (or section), or how you might send a link to your story in an e-mail message. The URL to each post should be permanent, and never change — hence permalink.
THIS – URL: askapache has some sage advice in – ‘Please Backup your entire MySql Database before you ever mess with Permalinks or rewrites.’
I can hear a little voice saying ‘I dont know how to backup MySql Database’, .. Backup wordpress-blog (ver 2.8.4) using the, .. Tools | Export | Backup – Download all the text of your blog into a *.xml file format. Your images, and multimedia will have to be backed up manually. The *.xml format preserves the complete structure of you blog.
There might be a complete solution out there, that will backup EVERY-THING in your blog, (Please place a link here) if you know of a better solution. Thx
More Links
Friday, August 21st, 2009Due to ‘Gateway-Timeout’ error messages, … (AND; This preventing me from actually editing an older post ‘WebLinks’) The ‘QuickPress’ option in _wp is being used. http://www.joomlahost.com.au
GEE; My blog is getting as disorganised as my harddisk, due to me constantly ADDING (Technical reference materials) – stuff that I MIGHT use later. (Hence the need to start-fresh, with a CMS) WordPress (Content-Management-System) – does a lot of stuff automatically, but it can NOT organise content in a way that ‘I’, might find useful, so while I explore the many way this might be done, I get this rambling blog / text – that seemingly no real structure, and I have to click on a number of links to find that old post i might be looking for, when out on a job or in the classroom.
THIS-POST; (Example of how Off-Content, the post becomes without structured plan)
ANYWAY; Here is another random link I found that could be really useful at some later date. http://weblogtoolscollection.com/

LINX Aggregated Traffic Statistics
This page shows the aggregated traffic that flows across all LINX switches and sites, together with what is probably an underestimate of the additional traffic that flows bilaterally between members across the LINX private interconnect (PI) service. The current figure shown is an aggregate of that provided to us by members during 2007.

Edit Links.html
Sunday, August 16th, 2009New-Project; Create a series of ‘posts’ within this blog to replace the links.html page. Started – Sunday 1:15pm – AND; Identify topics / themes covered by links.html
ALREADY-CUT: 4-Sections that were of concern, but time does not permit replacement post to be created. (such is life)
citizenship in eGovernment
Sunday, August 9th, 2009QUOTE:
Recommendations from a working group under the Danish Board of Technology.
Public administration in Denmark is on its way to becoming digital. Digital technology, specifically the Internet, is increasingly applied to manage public administration and casework, and to communicate with citizens.
The Security 'angle'
Sunday, August 9th, 2009FROM A USERS PERSPECTIVE:
#1: Basic Computer Security – (Minimum of THREE layers – Meaning:- Using a ‘Limited User Account’, Using, Anitivirus and having it updated regularly, Using a personal or ‘better’ firewall software)
#2: Privacy issues, and what NOT to do
#3: Completing Financial Transactions online (Selling hardware – Buying hardware via eBay)
#4: Completing Online Banking / Funds Transfer ‘SAFELY’
#5: WHAT; To look for while doing ANY of these type of activity.
Due to other commitments, (The ‘Security-Theme’, which is what this blog is supposed to contain, amongst other topics), AND; The fact that – WELL; How should I put this without sounding like a complete nutter, .. I just have not had the need, or the inclination, and/or, been ‘forced’ to face the uglier aspects of using the Internet.
I mean, really, who wants to read, (And comprehend, all the stuff thats is required to keep your ‘digital-life’ / ‘Computing-Online’ SAFE?
Well, not me, BUT; It needs to be understood and completed safely. And it does take some time – just to keep things going along tickety-boo.
IF, you would like to investigate these topic further here is one little link to start you off - Security – Privacy
Well; here is a few more >>> ANZ, Westpac, Microsoft
One last comment for now about ‘The Security angle’, … As much as we all might like to bash the banking system, and it corporate executives, … They do provide documentation about WHAT to do, (AND what NOT to do), when using theire online services. (AND; I would have to say that it is ‘As up to Date’, as required), from a perspective on ‘Being Safe Online’, from a new-users angle.
As the Wiki maintainer might say – reference required, and please expand, – BUT; I do have other studies being neglected.
Spammy _ URLs
Sunday, August 9th, 2009OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES;
DEFINITION: (Spammy Types of URLs – Is an ongoing topic that is rather large in itself – AND beyond the scope of this little comment, sorry to anyone that might be offended by this, but once again, I dont have time to Translate Chinese, or Read, or investigate possible intruders onto my blog, BUT; I will make exceptions to this ‘rule’, if anything unfriendly starts appearing ANYWHERE)
EXAMPLES; (Of spammy type of urls found so far – munged and pasted below)
http -:- // – www -.- elcohkg.com/
http -:- // – www -.- elcojp.com/
http -:- // – www -.- findonblogs.com/
http -:- // – www -.- elcoes.com/
TESTING: (Internal Link to GRD – Blog – Comments + SpammyURLs)
I have to create a new category for this topic – This is a topic to be expanded upon – AFTER completing some other ‘major – projects’.
